Rosas signs letter of intent with Holy Names University
Clovis Crush standout goalkeeper Robby Rosas is taking his talents to the Bay Area. The sophomore originally out of Fresno's Central High School recently signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Holy Names University in Oakland.
"Robby is an immensely talented goalkeeper but his strong work ethic, discipline and humble approach to life is what has allowed him to realize his true potential," said Clovis men's soccer head coach Chad McCarty. "He welcomes leadership opportunities and has proven himself to be a reliable team member with a positive and encouraging mindset regardless of the circumstances. Robby came to Clovis Community possessing all the qualities to become a successful student athlete, and he leaves the program having the raised the bar for future Crush student-athletes to follow."
Rosas played a huge role in the success of the 2019 Crush team that reached the Northern California Regional Playoffs this past fall. He was named the Central Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Year after leading Clovis to a 12-4-6 overall record and a 4-1-3 mark in the CVC. Rosas totaled seven shutouts on the season, including in five of the Crush's first seven contests.
"Robby has been a top-class goalie from start to finish," said Clovis goalkeeper coach Beau Diaz. "He shows up every day ready to train and get better regardless of the circumstances. His technique is second to none and his distribution from the side volley is the best we have seen. He makes the save that keeps you in games and is the type of goalie you want on your team."
Holy Names competes at the NCAA Division II level and is a member of the PacWest Conference. The Hawks are led by third-year head coach Evan Sassono.
