Swim and Dive "Kick-Off" The Season in Style!
Clovis Community College Swimmers and Divers "kicked-off" their meet in style! Clovis North High School played host to a modest meet to begin the CCCAA season in which "Crush" swimmers and divers broke a total of 12 school records.
On the springboards, Randi Berg won both events and achieved new records in the 1m (206.93) and the 3m (186.37). Andrew St. Germain won the 1m event with a first ever men's school effort in the event (155.25), while fellow Crush diver, Nic Jensen put together the first ever men's effort on the 3m board (121.72).
Off the blocks, the Crush women's swimmers set new school marks in both relays offered at the meet. The team of Lauren Barcelos, Nicole Bruno, Makenna LaBlue, and Rylee Radke broke last year's team records in the 200 medley relay (2:03.31) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.62), winning the latter event.
Returning Crush CCCAA All-American, Radke continued the onslaught on the record board by surpassing the team best in the 200 individual medley (2:28.21) and the 100 freestyle (57.66), winning both events. Newcomer, LaBlue was also able to make her mark on the team books by posting team bests in the 50 backstroke (31.37) and the 100 backstroke (1:08.90), winning each of those events, as well.
On the men's side, freshman, Tanner Davis (pictured), posted new Crush records in the men's 50 breastroke (28.23) and the 100 breastroke (1:01.63). Both swims were topped all competitors to win the meet.
This meet was not a scored competition, but Coach Bennett shared that, "This is an excellent jumping off point for our season. To be racing this well, this early is a great sign of impressive things to come."
