Crush men, women finish eighth at season-opening Fresno Invitational
The 2019 Clovis Crush cross country season got off to a great start with both the men's and women's squads earning eighth-place team finishes at the Fresno Invitational on Saturday. The event was held at Woodward Park.
The Clovis men totaled 253 points to take eighth out of 18 teams. Leading the way for the Crush men was Seth Frazer in 41st place. He cleared the four-mile course with a time of 22:04.6. He was followed by Christian Shehadey in 51st place at 22:15.1 and Russell Zelazo in 53rd at 22:16.7.

San Diego Mesa College was first in the final team standings with 37 points, followed by Mt. San Antonio College (43 points), and American River College (100 points). Isaiah Wilson from Mt. SAC won the men's race with a time of 20:54.4.
On the women's side, the Crush totaled 233 team points to take eighth out of 16 teams. Natalie Curtis was Clovis' top finisher, clocking in at 21:33.9 on the 3.1-mile course to finish in 40th place. Right behind her was Lily Kahn in 41st place with her time of 21:35.0. Alyssa Canales ran 21:47.3 to take 46th place, and Toni Payton finished 53rd with a time of 21:58.7.

Glendale Community College scored 26 points to win the women's team title, followed by Hartnell College with 46 points, and Mt. San Antonio College with 109. Pheobe Forsyth won the women's race, clearing the course with her time of 19:10.3.
Both the Crush men's and women's cross country teams return to action on Sep. 19 when they will compete at the Lou Vasquez Invitational at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
