Bio

Orlando Ramirez is a native of Fresno and starred at Roosevelt High School before attending Fresno Pacific University. Ramirez, a four-time all-conference selection and three-time All-American as a player for FPU, became the highest draft pick in program history when the San Jose Earthquakes selected him 31st overall in the 2005 MLS Draft.

"Clovis Community College is fortunate to have someone of Coach Ramirez's caliber to lead the inaugural Women's Soccer Program. He is a local all-star and valley native and possess the experience to launch a top soccer team that adds to the exceptional programs offered at Clovis Community College," said Susan Yates, Director of Athletics for Clovis Community College.

Ramirez spent the 2005 season in the MLS with the San Jose Earthquakes. He also spent a total of 6 seasons from 2003-2004 and 2006-2009 as a member and captain of the Fresno Fuego of the PDL.Ramirez is also one of the most prolific players in the FPU men's soccer program's storied history, scoring 76 goals for the Sunbirds from 2001-04, good for second all-time. In 2003 he scored a single-season record 31 goals, to go with 15 assists, totaling a school-record 77 total points while leading the Sunbirds to the best season in school history finishing as national runner-ups.

After his playing career, Ramirez joined FPU’s coaching staff as an assistant coach and served in that role for eight seasons from 2008-2016, helping lead the Sunbirds to 3 conference championships and 5 national tournament appearances. He also served as head varsity girls soccer coach at Buchanan High School for four seasons from 2011-2015, leading the Bears to 4 Valley championships, 3 conference championships and 2 conference coach of the year awards, 4 CIF Regional appearances, and a 78-17-9 record during that span.

Aside from his coaching experience, Ramirez taught elementary school and middle school in Clovis Unified for 9 years. He and his wife Casie reside in Fresno with their three children, Jude, Owen, and Sydney.
