Radke Touches First at Mt. San Antonio College Invitational
Radke takes top spot in 1650 at competitive invitational in Southern California.
Crush Swim and Dive, travelled to Walnut, CA in Los Angeles County, last Friday and Saturday to take on some of the best in Southern California at the Mount San Antonio Community College Invitational. Teams present included last year's women's champions, Orange Coast College, reigning men's champions Sierra College, and in-conference, perennial power-house, College of the Sequoias.
The Women finished 12th out of 24 teams represented, scoring a total of 124 points. Rylee Radke led the way for the women with a 1st place win in her signature event, the 1650 freestyle. Radke finished 5th in this event at last year's CCCAA State Championship. Also scoring for the Crush was Makenna LaBlue, as she improved upon her own school records in the 50 (3rd place) and 100 backstroke (7th place). Sophomore, Lauren Barcelos rounded out the individual scoring for the women with an 11th place finish in the 200 butterfly. LaBlue, Radke, and Barcelos combined with freshman, Nicole Bruno to finish 8th in the 200 medley relay and re-set their school record just established 2 weeks ago.
The Men's team finished 14th out of 20 teams in the meet. Top scorer on the men's side was freshman diver, Nic Jensen who placed 5th in the 3m springboard and 6th in the 1m event. Diver, Andrew St. Germain placed right behind Jensen in the 1m with a 7th placed effort. The swimming highlight for the men's side were the scoring 200 medley, 400 medley, and 200 freestyle relays. Ryan Martines, Nick Anderson, Luke Pfaunmiller, and Logan Loll teamed up on each relay to finish in the top 16 in each
Next up, the Crush Women take on a close competitor in an away dual meet with Alan Hancock College (Santa Maria) on March 9. Both men's and women's teams will then follow that meet with a challenging field at the Cuesta Invitational in San Luis Obispo, March 10-11.
