Crush win second straight Central Valley Conference championship
Led by freshman Alyssa Freeman's second-place finish, Clovis Community College totaled 23 team points to capture the 2019 Central Valley Conference women's cross country championship. For the Crush, it was the program's second consecutive CVC title under head coach CJ Albertson.
Clovis had three of the race's top five finishers. Freeman led a trio of consecutive Crush runners as she took second with a time of 19:46.0 at the 3.1-mile course at Woodward Park in Fresno. Toni Payton was third with 19:58.9, followed by Alyssa Canales in fourth at 20:18.4.
Natalie Curtis and Lilly Kahn closed out the Crush's team scoring. Curtis ran 21:11.1 for sixth place with Kahn clocking in at 21:54.2 for 10th.

Fresno City College's Matison McCombs was the individual winner, clearing the course with a time of 19:35.1.
The Crush advance to the Northern California Regional Championships, scheduled for Nov. 8 at El Toro Park in Salinas. Clovis will be looking to qualify for the CCCAA State Championships on Nov. 23 at Woodward Park.
