Martinez takes second to lead Crush women to team victory at Brooks Invitational
MARTINEZ – Clovis Community College sophomore Julia Martinez ran 19:00.08 to finish in second place overall to help lead the Crush to a first-place team showing at the George Brooks Memorial Cross Country Invitational on Friday. The seven-team event was held at Hidden Valley Park in Martinez.
Clovis claimed four of the top-10 spots in the race to earn 33 points. The Crush easily outdistanced second-place Hartnell College with 56 points and Monterey Peninsula College in third at 80 points.
Finishing in third place for the Crush right behind Martinez was freshman Rhiannon Walker. She cleared the 3-mile course with a time of 19:08.6. Also in the top-10 was freshman Lola Beams in seventh place at 19:47.9 and Mica Martinez in eighth with 19:51.1.

Andrea Villegas of Hartnell was the women's individual winner, taking first with a time of 18:11.4.
Clovis will be back in action next Friday (Sep. 29). The Crush will have split squads competing at the University of the Pacific Collegiate Invitational in Lodi as well as the Modesto Invitational.
