Crush XC Continues to Improve and Impress in Santa Rosa
The Men's and Women's team continued to improve and impress Saturday in Santa Rosa at the Pat Ryan Invtiational. The Men (4 Miles) were led by a 5th place finish from Chris Watkins (20:57). Mo Saleh (21:29) and Eddie Robles (21:46) followed behind while Christian Shehadey (21:55) and Russell Zelazo (21:58) ran huge PR's to finish in the Top 20. Jared Orth (22:49) and Jason Mironyuk (23:23) ran season bests as well. Overall, the Men Placed 2nd behind a very good Hartnell team.
On the Women's side (5k), Erin Sasser (21:36) had a big improvement from her previous races to lead the team with a 16th place finish. Natalie Curtis (22:16) ran an aggressive race and hung on for 23rd place finish with Ellie Nardella (22:24) closely behind grabbing the last spot in the Top 25. Ana Hernandez (22:47) ran a season best and Alyssa Cananles (22:50) was impressive in her first race back from injury. Grace Flores (24:06), Lily Kahn (24:09), Katherine Carter (24:26) and Hailee Berlin (26:36) all ran season bests as well. Overall the Women placed 4th behind the Top-3 ranked teams in Northern California.
The Crush hope to continue their high rate of improvement as they move into the Championship season. Since their first race, the Men have improved their Team Avg. Time by 1:59, while the Women have improved their Team Avg Time by 1:55- meaning each athlete has improved by almost 2 minutes since the beginning of the season! Up next is the Conference Championships at Woodward Park Friday, October 26th starting at 3:30 PM.
