Crush get final tune up in Merced before conference championships

Both the Clovis Community College men's and women's cross country teams were in action on Saturday competing at the UC Merced Ryan Nunez Bobcat Invitational. While no team scores were announced, the Crush had some great individual finishes competing against four-year colleges.
Sophomore Abraham Cordova led the Clovis men with his seventh-place finish. He cleared the four-mile UC Merced campus course with a time of 21:30.95. He was joined in the top 10 by freshman Cameron Vanzant in 10th with his time of 22:09.63.
Freshman Adrian Cuevas Casarubias finished 12th, clocking in at 22:15.44, freshman Charlie Sawyer was 14th at 22:19.64, and freshman Jeremiah Stott took 15th with a time of 22:22.49.

On the women's side, freshman Jennifer Recinos finished in second place overall, clocking in at 19:18.40 on the 5K course to lead a group of five Crush finishers in the top 10.
She was joined by sophomore Antonette Payton Noguez in fourth place at 19:35.96, freshman Morgan Prescott in seventh at 20:01.00, freshman Evelyn Zambrano in eighth with a time of 20:09.70, and freshman Megan Duran in 10th place with her time of 20:30.97.
Sophomore Jessica Lanham finished 13th at 21:50.91, and was followed by freshman Walker Douglas in 15th with a time of 22:41.89, freshman Rebecca Fonbah in 17th at 23:35.68, Breton Cameron in 18th at 23:38.14, and freshman Victoria Gonzalez in 19th at 23:41.00 to round out the top 20. Freshman Ellie Feistel took 24th place with her time of 25:08.03.
Saturday's races were their final tune up before the Crush suit up for the Central Valley Conference Championships. The CVC finals are set for Wednesday, Oct. 27 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
