The road to the women's soccer state championships begins this week for the Clovis Community College women's soccer team. On Tuesday, the Crush received the No. 5 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs.
No. 5 Clovis will host No. 12 West Valley College on Saturday (Nov. 20) at 2 p.m. in a Round 1 playoff game.
Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) postseason game are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old. The Crush enter the postseason with a 13-4-2 overall record and finished second in the final Central Valley Conference standings at 10-1-1. After opening the season with a 1-3-1 record, the Crush caught fire by winning 13 of their next 14 games.
Clovis will be making its fourth straight postseason appearance. In both 2018 and 2019, the Crush advanced to the second round of the NorCal Playoffs. Clovis will look to reach the CCCAA State Championships for the first time.
West Valley brings a 9-9-2 overall record into Saturday's game and finished third in the Coast Conference South Division at 5-4-1.
Saturday's contest will mark the second meeting of the season between the two squads. In just the Crush's second game of the year, Clovis and West Valley played to a 1-1 tie at the New Balance Showcase in Ventura.
The winner of Saturday's game will face either No. 4 Folsom Lake College (13-1-5) or No. 13 Las Positas College (11-4-3) in Round 2 on Tuesday, Nov. 23. Three wins are needed to advance to the CCCAA Soccer State Championships on Dec. 3 and 5 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
