Crush announce 2022 Fall Athletics schedules

Clovis Community College sports teams are back in action. With the start of the fall semester for all students coming up on Aug. 8, Clovis Crush sports team will soon follow as men's soccer, women's soccer, men's cross country, and women's cross country will all begin their seasons of competition later this month.
New Director of Athletics James Sewell begins his first year leading the Crush this fall and expects a great season of competition.
"Our Crush head coaches are excited to reveal their respective fall schedules," said Sewell. "We look forward to our campus and local communities sharing in that excitement by coming out to the games and meets and supporting our Crush student-athletes as they represent all of us in competition. Vamos Crush!"
The Crush men's soccer team, under the direction of head coach Chad McCarty, officially kicks off the season on Aug. 26 with a match at Monterey Peninsula College at 4 p.m. Following that contest, Clovis plays its home opener on Aug. 30 when the Crush host Folsom Lake College at 4 p.m. The Crush are scheduled to play 10 games at home this season.
Orlando Ramirez returns to lead the Crush women's soccer team. Like the men's team, the women's squad will open the season on the road at Hartnell College on Aug. 26 at 4 p.m. Clovis will play its first three matches away before hosting San Joaquin Delta College in its home opener on Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. The women are set to also play 10 home contests this fall.
Last season (2021), the Clovis women advanced to the second round of the Northern California Playoffs and closed the year with an impressive 14-5-2 overall record.
The men's and women's cross country teams, led by top US marathoner CJ Albertson, begin their seasons on Aug. 26 at the Tour de Cuesta meet in San Luis Obispo. The Crush will host three competitions this season, including the Fresno Invitational on Sept. 10, the Central Valley Conference Championships on Oct. 26, and the California Community College Athletic Association State Championships on Nov. 19. Those three meets will all be held at Woodward Park in Fresno.
At the 2021 state championship meet held at Woodward Park, the Crush women finished in fourth place overall while the men were 17th.
