Clovis celebrates 2023-24 season at inaugural Crush Athletics Awards Banquet
FRESNO – It was a great evening to celebrate a very successful Clovis Community College Athletics season. On Wednesday, the college honored its standouts on the field and in the classroom from the 2023-24 sports season at the inaugural Crush Athletics Awards Banquet. The event was held at Fort Washington Country Club.
The athletic department recognized 31 student-athletes that will either be graduating or receiving a certificate this month as well the numerous team and individual accolades from the season.
Team most valuable player award recipients were also honored. Reigan Rose from the women's soccer team was named the DLC ISE Female Student-Athlete of the Year while Aron Teffra from men's cross country and track & field was selected the Adam Macy-Ayotte Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
Paige Smith from women's soccer (Team Captain, 1st Team All-CVC, Crush Student-Athlete Council) was the event's student-athlete speaker. Opening remarks were given by CCC President Dr. Kim E. Armstrong.
"We all deeply appreciate our Crush student-athletes and everything that they bring to our campus experience through their sacrifice, hard work, and dedication," said Clovis Director of Athletics James Sewell. "It's very fitting to celebrate their remarkable achievements with an evening like this. Fort Washington Country Club provided a beautiful setting and outstanding meal. Having our District and College leadership, coaches and staff, and community partners come together in support of our student-athletes was truly special.
"This event highlighted the unique space that our student-athletes hold at Clovis Community College and was a great step in building our evolving culture in athletics," he added. "It was a successful maiden voyage and we're already looking forward to next year!"
