The 2019 season got off to a great start for the Clovis Community College men's soccer team as the Crush rolled to a 3-0 victory at Lake Tahoe Community College on Friday. Sophomore Alton Yokley had two goals while Saul Allen Sanchez posted three assists in the win.
After battling for 72 scoreless minutes, Clovis finally broke the deadlock with a goal by Tyler Ferguson off the assist from Sanchez.
Once they got the first, there was no stopping the Crush. Yokley added to the lead with his goal in the 78th minute off the second assist from Sanchez. Just moments before the final whistle, Yokley surged downfield for his second goal (Carlos Osuna/Sanchez assists) at the 89-minute mark to secure the Clovis win.
Robby Rosas was excellent in goal, posting the first Clovis shutout of the season with three saves.
The Crush will look to keep the momentum going when they host Lassen Community College in their home opener on Wednesday (Sep. 4) at 4 p.m.
