The No. 7 state-ranked Clovis Crush men's soccer team bounced back from its first loss of the season earlier in the week with a huge 5-0 win over visiting Chabot College on Friday. Tyler Ferguson led the Crush in the rout with a pair of goals while Saul Allen Sanchez had a goal and an assist.
The win improved Clovis to 5-1-1 overall while Chabot dropped to 3-3-1. The Crush have outscored their opponents by a 23-6 margin this season while the defense has posted shutouts in five of seven games.
Alton Yokley got the scoring going on Friday with his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 21st minute to give Clovis a 1-0 lead. Jordon Wilkins and Jacob Lopez were credited with assists on the play.
Four minutes later, Ryan Rosas took the pass from Wilkins to score and give the Crush a 2-0 advantage that they took into halftime.
Ferguson exploded in the second, getting consecutive goals in the 74th and 80th minutes to put the game out of reach. Sanchez closed out the victory scoring before the final whistle in the 88th minute.
Robby Rosas went the distance in goal to earn the win.
Clovis will play a pair of non-conference games next week before opening Central Valley Conference play on Oct. 1. The Crush are at Cañada College on Wednesday (Sep. 25) and host Cabrillo College on Friday (Sep. 27).
