Sophomore Alton Yokley and freshman Tyler Ferguson both scored their team-leading eighth goals of the season to provide all the offense needed for No. 14 state-ranked Clovis Community College to defeat West Hills College Lemoore by a final score of 2-1 on Friday.
The Crush are unbeaten over their last three games and are a perfect 6-0 at home this season. The Central Valley Conference victory improved Clovis to 8-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the CVC.
The Crush jumped out to an early lead that they wouldn't give up. Yokley opened the scoring with his goal in the 10th minute off the assist from Israel Echeverria. Ferguson gave Clovis a 2-0 lead after he scored off the feed from Andres Nunez in the 25th minute.
West Hills Lemoore cut the lead in half, getting a goal in the 35th minute. From that point, the contest turned into a defensive battle as neither team was able to find the back of the net.
Robby Rosas earned the win in goal for the Crush.
Clovis will take a break from conference play to take on Folsom Lake College on Tuesday (Oct. 11). The home match is set for a 4 p.m. kick off.
