No. 14 Clovis edges West Hills Lemoore 2-1 for CVC win

Sophomore Alton Yokley and freshman Tyler Ferguson both scored their team-leading eighth goals of the season to provide all the offense needed for No. 14 state-ranked Clovis Community College to defeat West Hills College Lemoore by a final score of 2-1 on Friday.

The Crush are unbeaten over their last three games and are a perfect 6-0 at home this season. The Central Valley Conference victory improved Clovis to 8-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the CVC.

The Crush jumped out to an early lead that they wouldn't give up. Yokley opened the scoring with his goal in the 10^th minute off the assist from Israel Echeverria. Ferguson gave Clovis a 2-0 lead after he scored off the feed from Andres Nunez in the 25^th minute.

West Hills Lemoore cut the lead in half, getting a goal in the 35^th minute. From that point, the contest turned into a defensive battle as neither team was able to find the back of the net.

Robby Rosas earned the win in goal for the Crush.

Clovis will take a break from conference play to take on Folsom Lake College on Tuesday (Oct. 11). The home match is set for a 4 p.m. kick off.
