Crush men’s soccer opens season with 5-0 rout at Monterey Peninsula

MONTEREY – The Clovis Community College men's soccer team couldn't wait for its 2022 season opener. When it finally arrived, the Crush celebrated the start of the new season with an impressive 5-0 win at Monterey Peninsula College on Friday.
Freshman Lautaro Donoso knocked in a pair of late goals in his Clovis debut to lead the Crush while sophomore Raul Garcia, sophomore Ryan DaRocha, and freshman Ezequiel Chavez Pere all scored their first goals of the year.
After a close start to the contest, the Crush finally broke through with Garcia's goal in the 25th minute off the assist from freshman Michaelaaron Ortez. DaRocha's unassisted goal made it 2-0 in the 34th while Ortez picked up his second assist when he set up Chavez Pere's goal in the 62nd.
Leading 3-0, Donoso scored in the 80th minute and closed it out with his goal in the 87th minute thanks to the assist by sophomore Aramel Villa.
Freshman Luis Segura was solid in goal as he posted four saves to help earn the Crush's first shutout of the year.
Clovis (1-0) returns to action on Tuesday (Aug. 30) when the Crush host Folsom Lake College at 4 p.m. in their 2022 home opener.
