CLOVIS – Julio Hernandez provided all the offense the Clovis Community College men's soccer team would need as his goal in the 65th minute proved to be the game-winner in a 1-0 Crush victory over visiting Cabrillo College on Friday.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half and it was more of the same to open the second. But Maurisio Marquez Martinez fed Hernandez for the goal midway through the final period of play.
The Crush defense and goalkeeper Luis Segura (4 saves) continued its stellar play for the rest of the contest to help Clovis earn its second shutout in three games this season. Over three games, Clovis has outscored its opponents by an 8-1 margin.
Now 3-0, the Crush will look to continue their winning streak to open the season on Friday (Sep. 9) when they travel to Salinas for a 4 p.m. non-conference game at Hartnell College.
