It was a tale of two halves as the Crush Women's Soccer team jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, only to give up two goals in the second half, ultimately coming away with a 2-2 draw with 2017 CCCAA State semifinalists Folsom Lake.
The Crush jumped on the scoreboard first in the 16th minute. Sophomore Vanessa Torres made a weaving run with the ball into the Folsom Lake penalty box and slid a pass to freshman Ariana Quintero, where she tucked the ball nicely past the goalkeeper for her third goal of the year.
Quintero wasn't done there, as she added her fourth of the season in the 38th minute. After receiving a pass from sophomore Annika Van Beurden from 35 yards out, Quintero beat two Folsom Lake players to go one on one with the goalkeeper, finishing far post to put the Crush firmly in control of the match.
Folsom Lake came out strong in the second half though, scoring in the 48th minute and then again in the 68th minute, and that would be all the scoring on the day.
The Crush now have an overall record of 1-1-2 as they head to Cañada College this Friday, September 7th for a 4pm match in Redwood City.
You can catch the Crush Women's Soccer team at home next week against Hartnell College on Tuesday, September 11 at 4:30pm and against Santa Barbara College on Friday September 14 at 3:00pm. Go Crush!!!
