Under the lights in Bakersfield Friday night, the Clovis Crush Women's Soccer team prevailed by a score of 3-1 in a physical encounter. It was their fifth win in a row as they close out non-conference play with a 6-1-2 record.
Sophomore Mia Castillo got the Crush on the board first in the 11th minute, finishing a cross from freshman Ariana Quintero at the near post following a corner kick. The Renegades would tie the match in the 28th minute, and the teams would go into the half knotted at 1-1.
The Crush would break the deadlock in the 67th minute, with sophomore Nataly Sanchez scoring the eventual game winner off a cross from freshman Karlee Hodges. Withstanding pressure from a Bakersfield team seeking the tying goal, Quintero would put the game out of reach at 3-1 in the 85th minute, receiving a ball from sophomore Vanessa Torres on the right side of the box and slipping it by the Renegade goalkeeper.
Central Valley Conference play begins for the Crush on Tuesday, September 25 at home against College of the Sequoias, kickoff at 4:00pm. Go Crush!!!
