In a battle of the top two teams from the Central Valley Conference the last two seasons, the Clovis Crush Women's Soccer team fell away from home to Fresno City 4-1 in their first meeting of the year. The Crush got on the board first after a back and forth first 30 minutes. Freshman Ariana Quintero stole a pass from a Fresno defender, dribbled down the line and found freshman Brooke Gill right inside the six yard box, where she hit a first time shot into the net. This was Gill's sixth goal of the season and Quintero's team leading eight assist.
Hoping to go into the half with the lead, Fresno hit back on a counter attack and tied the game at 1-1 with 30 seconds left before halftime. Unfortunately, the Crush were unable to regain the momentum, and the Rams ended up scoring 3 goals in the final 15 minutes of the match to win 4-1.
The Crush now have an overall record of 8-2-2 and 2-1 in conference. Their next match is Friday, October 5th at home against Taft College, kickoff at 4:00pm. Go Crush!!!
