The Clovis Crush Women's Soccer team defeated Reedley 7-2 in their second meeting this season, making it their fourth win in a row. The Crush looked in control early, generating multiple scoring opportunities and limiting the Tigers' offense behind the defensive unit of freshman goalkeeper Brianna Alarrazabal, freshman Karlee Hodges, freshman Jackelyn Segura, sophomore Sydnee Baxter, sophomore Marie Tejeda, and sophomore Esmeralda Navarro.
The first goal for the Crush came in the 28th minute, with freshman Shady Hernandez striking a volley from outside the box off of a feed from sophomore Mia Castillo. Two more goals would come in rapid succession, as freshman Brooke Gill would finish off another pass from Castillo, who would get her first of two on the day with Hernandez assisting to return the earlier favor. It would stay 3-0 until the half.
The second half saw another scoring outburst, as Castillo would add her second in the 48th minute and sophomore Savannah Dungan would score three by the 67th minute, her second career hat trick, both coming against Reedley. The shutout was not to be though, as Reedley would score two late goals from sophomore Diana Elizalde.
The Crush came into the match ranked #16 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll, and with the win it takes them to 12-2-3 overall and 6-1-1 in conference. Up next is a home match against conference leader Fresno City College on Friday, October 26 at 4:00pm. Go Crush!
