Crush open 2019 season with 3-1 loss at Folsom Lake
The Clovis Crush women’s soccer team couldn’t overcome a second-half surge by Folsom Lake College and suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road in both teams’ season-opener on Tuesday. Freshman Faith Martin scored the squad's lone goal in the loss.

The Clovis Crush women's soccer team couldn't overcome a second-half surge by Folsom Lake College and suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road in both teams' season-opener on Tuesday at Falcon Stadium.
Trailing 1-0 after a goal in the 18th minute by Folsom Lake's Emily Dotson, the Crush got the equalizer in the 38th minute thanks to a goal-scoring strike by freshman Faith Martin off the assist from freshman Leslie Zepeda.
The two squads entered halftime tied up at 1-1 and it remained that way until the 53rd minute. Emma Thompson put the Falcons ahead for good with her goal while Doty struck again in the 58th minute to secure the Folsom Lake win.
Freshman goalkeeper Angela Petrakis put together a good effort in her Crush debut and played all 90 minutes.
The Crush return to action this weekend when they will compete at the New Balance Community College Showcase at the Ventura College Sports-Plex. On Friday (Aug. 30), Clovis will face Rio Hondo College at 4 p.m. and closes out the tourney on Saturday (Aug. 31) with a 2:30 p.m. game against West Valley College.
The Crush will make their 2019 home debut on Sep. 6 when they host Cañada College at 2 p.m.
