Clovis plays Hartnell to 1-1 tie

Clovis Community College freshman Leslie Zepeda scored an early goal but the Crush couldn't get more and had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Hartnell College in Salinas on Tuesday.

Zepeda headed in a cross pass from Irena Zamora to beat Hartnell goalkeeper Giuli Perez and give Clovis an early 8-0 lead after just eight minutes of play.

But Hartnell came back with the equalizer shortly after, getting a goal from Julianna Adams in the 22^nd minute to even the score at 1-1.

The balanced of the contest shifted to a defensive battle as neither team was able to put the ball in the back of the net. Angela Petrakis played all 90 minutes in goal for the Crush and posted 12 saves in another impressive effort.

Clovis' overall record currently stands at 2-4-2. The Crush return to action on Friday (Sep. 27) when they host Los Angeles Pierce College in a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
