Looking to turn around a tough start to the 2019 season, the Clovis Community College women's soccer team opened up Central Valley Conference play on Tuesday with a 2-0 win at West Hills College Lemoore.
The victory improved the Crush to 3-5-2 overall but the squad can now focus on its 1-0 CVC record going forward.
After a scoreless opening half, Clovis finally broke through in the second. Keska Turner got the Crush on the board with her unassisted goal in the 65th minute. And in the 87th minute, Karyme Hernandez iced the Clovis win with her goal off the assist from Irene Zamora.
Angela Petrakis played all 90 minutes in goal for the Crush and helped earned the squad's first shutout of the season.
Clovis will look to build on the win when the Crush return to action on Friday (Oct. 18) with a 1 p.m. conference game at College of the Sequoias.
