The 2019 Clovis Crush women's soccer season came to an abrupt close following a 4-1 loss at No. 4 Sierra College in Round 2 of the Northern California Regional Playoffs on Tuesday.
No. 5-seeded Clovis found itself trailing 2-0 early after Sierra got goals from Laney Paduveris and Bridget Pelzman in the 12th and 22nd minutes of the game.
The Crush finally got back into the contest, cutting that lead in half thanks to a goal by sophomore Karlee Hodges in the 30th minute.
But Sierra responded with a goal in the 40th minute by Grace Vargas to take a commanding 3-1 lead into halftime. Paige Martinsen sealed the Sierra victory with her goal in the 72nd minute to close out the scoring.
The Crush made their third consecutive postseason appearance in 2019 after capturing a share of the Central Valley Conference championship. Clovis wrapped up the season with a 10-8-3 overall record and went 7-2-1 in conference play under head coach Orlando Ramirez.
