Segura signs letter of intent with Fresno Pacific
Clovis Crush women's soccer fans won't have to travel far to watch one of their favorites play at the next level. Sophomore standout Jackie Segura has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career at nearby Fresno Pacific University.
"We are so excited for this deserved opportunity to continue her education and playing career at the next level with Fresno Pacific University," said Clovis head coach Orlando Ramirez. "The chance to see her play here locally is fun not just for us but for her family and Sanger community as well."
Segura, originally out of Sanger High School, played a vital role in the success of a Crush soccer team that captured its first-ever Central Valley Conference championship this past fall and twice advanced to the Northern California Regional Playoffs. Segura was named first-team All-Central Valley Conference her sophomore season after anchoring a Clovis defense that totaled seven shutouts.
"Jackie was a two-year starter for us at center back, and her tenacity, composure, and ability to read the game made her a nightmare for opposing forwards," said Ramirez. "Her larger than life personality is infectious, and the dedication and investment in our program the last two years helped us reach heights we hadn't before."
Fresno Pacific competes at the NCAA Division II level and is a member of the PacWest Conference. The Sunbirds are led by head coach Rob Podeyn who begins his fifth season at FPU in 2020.
