Sophomore Alexz Wheaton provided all the offense, scoring a pair of goals to help lead the Clovis Community College women's soccer team to a 2-0 win at Lake Tahoe Community College on Friday.
The non-conference victory snapped a three-game losing streak and improved the Crush to 2-3-1 overall this season.
Wheaton, a Clovis North graduate who returned home after a season at Holy Names University, got Clovis on the board with her unassisted goal in the 15th minute. She sealed the victory in the second, scoring off the assist from Maicee Espinoza in the 70th minute.
Angie Petrakis needed to make just one save in goal to post the Crush's first shutout of the season.
Clovis plays its final non-conference game next Friday (Sep. 24) when the Crush travel to Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills for a 4 p.m. contest. Clovis opens Central Valley Conference play on Sep. 28 when it hosts Merced College at 2 p.m.
