Crush surge to sixth straight shutout win, beat Sequoias 4-0

The incredible run by the Clovis Community College women's soccer team continued on Friday. For the sixth consecutive game, the Crush won by shutout and beat visiting College of the Sequoias by a final score of 4-0 on Tuesday.
Since opening the season with a 1-3-1 record, Clovis has surged to a 7-3-1 mark and is a perfect 4-0 in the Central Valley Conference.
Alexz Wheaton scored a pair of goals late in the second half, but it was Audrey Reyna that gave the Crush a 1-0 advantage with her goal in the 44th minute.
Clovis broke the game open in the second half, scoring three times. Karyme Hernandez scored in the 51st and Wheaton closed out the win with goals in the 77th and 79th minutes.
Valeria Quintero had two assists while Amanda Avila and Jordyne Puentes were credited with the final two. In goal, Angie Petrakis (80 minutes) and Mirella Garcia (10 minutes) combined for the shutout.
The Crush will look to extend their streak on Tuesday (Oct. 19) when they travel to Fresno City College for a big Central Valley Conference game that begins at 4 p.m. Fresno enters the contest with a 5-0 record in CVC play.
