No. 18 state-ranked Clovis Community College and No. 11 Fresno City College entered Tuesday's Central Valley Conference showdown unbeaten in conference play and after the game, the two teams remained that way. The rival Crush and Rams battled to a 1-1 tie in Fresno.
Fresno City (9-2-3) holds the slight edge in the standings having played six games with a 5-0-1 conference record while Clovis moved to 4-0-1 and 7-3-2 overall.
Clovis trailed 1-0 at halftime after a goal in the 40th minute by the Rams. But the Crush got the equalizer in the 55th minute as Jordyne Puentes scored her sixth goal of the season off the assist from Karyme Hernandez.
Clovis goalkeeper Angie Petrakis had her six-game shutout streak snapped, but played well to keep the Crush in the game.
Clovis and Fresno are scheduled to meet again on the final game of the regular season on Nov. 12 in a game that could determine the 2021 Central Valley Conference champion.
The Crush return to action on Friday (Oct. 22) when they travel to Merced College for a 2 p.m. conference game.
