No. 16 state-ranked Clovis Community College improved to 6-0-1 and remains on top of the Central Valley Conference standings thanks to its 2-1 victory at No. 18 Taft College on Monday.
Clovis, Fresno City (5-0-1), and Taft (4-2) continue to battle for the conference championship and postseason position. Due to a postponement earlier this season, Clovis and Taft will face off again on Wednesday (Oct. 27) at 1 p.m. in Clovis.
On Monday, sophomore Audrey Reyna provided the offense, scoring both goals for the Crush in the win. Her goal in the 39th minute off the assist from Karyme Hernandez gave Clovis a 1-0 lead.
Taft would get the equalizer early in the second half with a goal from Anyel Gonzalez in the 55th minute.
But Reyna broke free in the 81st minute, taking the pass from Teresa Quintero and scoring past Taft goalkeeper Natalia Navarro for the eventual game-winning goal. Clovis is 9-3-2 overall heading into Wednesday's contest.
