CLOVIS – Sophomore Valeria Quintero's goal midway through the second half proved to be the game-winner as the Clovis Community College women's soccer team took a big first step towards a Central Valley Conference championship by defeating rival Fresno City College 1-0 on Tuesday in both teams' CVC opener.
With the win, the Crush remain unbeaten at 4-0 to open the 2023 season.
After a scoreless first half, Quintero combined with Alyssa Ruelas to knock in the contest's lone goal in the 60th minute.
Sophomore Carly Tynan and the Clovis defense held steady to post their second shutout of the season.
The Crush will look to keep the momentum going on Friday (Sep. 15) when they host College of the Sequoias in a 4 p.m. Central Valley Conference game.
