CLOVIS – Natalie Galicia and Jimena Gutierrez scored first-half goals to help lead the Clovis Community College women's soccer team to a 2-1 Central Valley Conference win over visiting Reedley College on Tuesday.
The Crush are back in the win column after playing West Valley College to a 3-3 tie in a non-conference game on Friday.
Tuesday's victory improved Clovis to 13-2-1 overall and 10-1-0 in the CVC. The Crush remain on top of the conference standings with Fresno in second at 7-1-3.
Galicia opened the scoring for Clovis in Tuesday's contest, knocking in her fifth goal of the season in the 12th minute. Jimenez made it a 2-0 Crush lead with her fifth goal of 2023, scoring in the 38th minute.
Diana Rico cut Clovis' lead in half when she scored in the 66th, but the Crush defense and goalkeeper Carly Tynan were able to hold off a hungry Reedley squad. Tynan posted 7 saves to pick up the win for Clovis.
The Crush are back in action on Friday (Oct. 27) when they host Madera Community College for a 1 p.m. CVC game.
