CLOVIS – It was big game of firsts for the Clovis Community College women's soccer team on Friday.
The Crush earned their first victory of the season after beating visiting Evergreen Valley College by a final score of 1-0. Sophomore Linda Jimenez scored her first goal of the season while freshman goalkeeper Kaylen Guerra recorded the first shutout of her Clovis Crush career.
Jimenez scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 43rd minute off the assist from Madison Martinez.
The win improved Clovis to 1-4 overall. The Crush will look to keep the momentum going on Tuesday (Sep. 17) when they begin Central Valley Conference play at home against Merced College. Opening whistle is set for 1:30 p.m.
