Crush make return to the pool for meet vs. Fresno, Bakersfield
The Clovis Community College swim & dive team competed in its second meet of the season, taking on Bakersfield College and Fresno City College at BC on Feb. 24.
On the women's side, Juliet Herzog improved her times in both the 200 Free (3:01.45) and the 100 Free (1:24.27).
"Juliet is relatively new to swim and had never competed in the 200 Free," said Crush head coach Shawn Jones. "We've been impressed with her work ethic and drive to improve.
Another newcomer, Dani Kotenkoff also swam well, improving her times in both the 50 Free (33.76) and 100 Back (1:30.04) at the meet.
"Dani has been an integral part of the team, swimming in both the 400 A Medley Relay (Back) and 400 A Free Relay," said Jones. "She has done a great job with the pressure of swimming in such fast events."
Experienced swimmer Emma Cipolia competed in the 500 free for the first time and clocked in at 8:26.63.
"The 500 Free can be an intimidating event," Jones said. "We were all very proud of her performance."
In men's action, newcomer Braden Pope completed the 500 Free with a time of 6:08:34.
"He did a great job and had an excellent attitude when asking Coach Devere how he could improve for the next meet," Jones said.
Jones is proud of her squads' effort and looks forward to her student-athletes' continued success this season.
"At this meet we had athletes exemplify Clovis Community College's Mission Statement, 'Creating Opportunities - one student at a time'," she said. "All these athletes are using the opportunity to participate in swim at a collegiate level."
The Crush are back in action on March 8-9 to compete at the Cuesta College Invitational in San Luis Obispo.
