Crush head north for Bobby Miyashiro Invitational
SANTA ROSA – The Clovis Community College Swim & Dive team continued to show improvement at the Bobby Miyashiro Invitational last week. The two-day meet wrapped up on Friday and was hosted by Santa Rosa Junior College.
Standouts for the Crush included freshmen Jordynn Lyday and Sarah Deel.
Lyday swam season-best times in both the 50-yard freestyle (25.64) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.27). Thanks to her impressive times, Lyday is now ranked among the state's top-20 in each event.
Clovis head coach Shawn Jones expects continued improvement from Lyday.
"Jordynn plans on continuing to work hard for one of the top-16 spots that will take her to the state championships."
Deel also had a fast weekend. She swam the 200-yard IM (2:39.51), the 50-yard freestyle (28.59), as well as the 100-yard backstroke (1:10.88). But Deel saw the biggest improvement in the 200-yard freestyle with her time of 2:11.97.
Jones said she was impressed with Deel's performance and is looking forward to seeing how she does in the conference championship meet.
The Crush swim and dive team has a busy schedule leading up to the Central Valley Conference Championships meet in April. The team continues to work hard, meeting their goals both in the pool and out.
