Crush close out impressive season at State Championships
Clovis Community College took three athletes to the 3C2A State Championship at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa to wrap up the 2023-2024 season.
In diving events, freshman Emma Prince represented the school and placed 11th in the 1-meter and ninth in the 3-meter. Coach Jones said, "This was Emma's first season in competitive diving, we are anticipating an even greater 2024-2025 season." Sophomore Hunter Jenny placed 17th in the 1-meter and 11th in the 3-meter. Both Emma and Hunter received the MVP award for Swim and Dive in 2024.
In swim, freshman Jordynn Lyday represented CCC by competing in the 50-yard free and 100-yard back. Lyday placed 25th in the 50-yard free (25.69) and in the finals, placed 16th in the 100-yard back (1:04.53). Coach Jones is looking forward to working with her during the 2024-2025 season.
New Records
Tanner Grady broke the 2018 50-yard freestyle record set by Q Sanches (22.30) at the 2024 CVC Championship meet with a time of 22.22. Coach Jones said, "Tanner had already dropped time in prelims so we were all very excited when he was able to drop a total of 0.68 seconds to break the school record."
Jordynn Lyday broke two school records. The 2019 50-yard freestyle record set by D Denton (25.52) at the 2024 CVC Championship meet with a time of 25.40 as well as the 2017 100-yard backstroke record set by M LaBlue (1:03.58) at the 2024 CVC Championship meet with a time of 1:03.38.

Clovis Community College had several championship performances (first place) at the 2024 CVC Championship Meet:
- Madison Cegielski – 100 yd Individual Medley with a time of 1:06.76
- Sarah Deel – 500 yd Freestyle with a time of 5.54.53
- Jordynn Lyday – 50 yd Freestyle with a time of 25.40
- Emma Prince – Diving 3-meter with a total point count of 135.60
