Crush finish seventh at Santa Clara Bronco Invitational
SUNNVALE – Lining up against four-year colleges for the second straight week, the Clovis Community College women's cross country team once again held its own by finishing in seventh place out of 17 teams at the Santa Clara University Bronco Invitational on Saturday.
Led by freshman Julia Martinez' 38th-place showing, the Crush totaled 238 team points to finish second among two-year programs.
Martinez cleared the 6K course at Baylands Park with a time of 22:40.7. Her time was sixth-best among community college runners.
Martinez was followed by sophomores Walker Douglas in 51st place (23:17.6), Evelyn Zambrano in 53rd (23:26.4), and Jennifer Recinos in 94th (24:07.6) as part of the top-100.
Also for the Crush, sophomore Megan Duran ran 24:42.2 (111th), freshman Gabriella Avila clocked in at 25:17.7 (132nd), and Breton Cameron checked in with a time of 27:00.3 (167th).
Salt Lake Community College was first in the team standings with 42 points, followed by Chico State University with 61 points, and host Santa Clara finishing third with 85 points. Luciana Lenth from Santa Clara was the top collegiate finisher with a time of 21:46.1.
Up next for the Crush in the Central Valley Conference Championships on October 26 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
