Clovis men, women take first place at Toro Park Invitational
SALINAS – It was another great meet day for head coach CJ Albertson and the Clovis Community College cross country teams. Both the Crush men's and women's teams ran away from the competition to take first place at the Toro Park Invitational in Salinas on Friday. The event was hosted by Hartnell College.
Led by an eighth-place individual finish by Aron Teffra, the Clovis men totaled 55 points to beat out De Anza (63 points) and host Hartnell (68 points) for the team title.
Teffra cleared the four-mile course at Toro Park with his time of 21:52.44 to pace the Crush. All five of the Crush's scoring runners finished among the meet's top-20.
Guillermo Lopez and Marcus Jauregui finished back-to-back in 12th and 13th place, clocking in at 22:14.34 and 22:14.64. The duo was followed by Joaquin McGee in 16th at 22:28.34 and Alejandro Gutierrez in 20th with a time of 22:41.44. Right behind him was Ethan Pricolo in 21st at 22:43.74.

On the women's side, the Crush cruised to the title with an impressive team score of 36 points to easily outdistance second-place Hartnell (62 points) and Cuyamaca (90 points) in third.
Julia Martinez and Rhiannon Walker led the women, finishing back-to-back in fourth and fifth place overall. Martinez clocked in at 20:14.50 while Walker ran 20:32.40 on the three-mile Toro Park course.
All five of the Crush's scoring runners finished among the top-20. Following Walker was Milca Martinez in 10th place with her time of 21:26.90. Ashley Leeds was 15th at 22:03.00 and Alyona Beams took 17th with a time of 22:14.90.

The Crush men's and women's cross country teams return to action next Saturday (Oct. 14) when they will take on NCAA Division I competition at the Santa Clara University Bronco Invitational
