Walker wins third race of the season; Crush women finish fourth, men 11th at Bronco Invitational
SUNNYVALE – Clovis Community College sophomore Rhiannon Walker continued on her path towards the state championships by winning her third race of the season, finishing in first place at the Santa Clara University Bronco Invitational on Saturday.
In the Crush's final competition before postseason races get underway, Walker beat out a field comprised of mainly four-year programs. She cleared the 6,000-meter course at Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale with a time of 21:46.7. Walker easily beat her previous 6K time of 22:30.7 that she ran last month at the University of Pacific Invite.
The Crush women totaled 139 points to finish in fourth place out of a field of 14 teams. Walker was followed by Magy Marcelo in 38th place with her time of 25:53.0.

UC Davis won the women's open race with 41 points, followed by UC Santa Cruz (58), and St. Mary's (119).
Led by Ivan Barranco's 55th place finish, the Clovis Crush men totaled 256 points to take 11th place out of 18 teams at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational.
Barranco cleared the 8,000-meter course with a time of 26:18.4.

Cal Poly Distance Club won the men's open team competition with a team score of 41 points. It was followed by UC Santa Barbara (93), and Peninsula Distance Club in third (104). Chris Olley of PDC was the men's open individual winner with a time of 24:28.1.
The Crush now turn their attention to the postseason. Up next is the Central Valley Conference Championships scheduled for Oct. 29 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
