CLOVIS – Sophomore Jordyne Puentes scored a goal and added an assist to help lead the No. 9-seeded Clovis Community College women's soccer team to a 4-2 win over No. 24 seed West Valley College on Wednesday in an opening-round game of the 2022 Northern California Regional Playoffs.
The Crush also got goals from Maria Garcia, Teresa Quintero, and Emma Cypher.
Clovis, now 14-5-3 overall, moves on to play at No. 8 Cabrillo College (13-5-1) in a second-round game on Saturday (Nov. 19) in Aptos. Game time is TBA.
The winner of Saturday's contest advances to Round 3 to play either No. 1 Folsom Lake College or No. 16 Evergreen Valley College on Tuesday (Nov. 22). Three more wins are needed by the Crush to advance to the 2022 CCCAA State Championships on Dec. 2 & 4 at American River College in Sacramento.
